"Of the various Italian writers of the same period the best known is Pietro Cossali, who taught both physics and astronomy at the University of Parma and was later (1806) professor of mathematics at Padua. best known for his history of algebra, a work of considerable scholarship and even yet of service to the student of this phase of the subject."
