Sir Walter Francis Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 5th Duke of Buccleuch and 7th Duke of Queensbury, born 1806, was educated at Eton and Cambridge. Successive titles and honorary degrees were bestowed upon him. He held the office of Militia Aide-de-Camp to Queen Victoria between 1857 and 1884. A wealthy man of "great position and vast estates."
