Feynman audio miscellany, Lecture, Watson Lecture
Mayan Hieroglyphic Writing
Per Feynman at the beginning of the recording, this is a lecture on Mayan mathematics and astronomy. He explains that it is a repeat of a talk given at UCLA on this subject on the request of physicist Nina Byers. Similar information is given in Feynman's book, "Surely You're Joking," in the chapter, "Bringing Culture to the Physicists.
The original cassette tape is inaccurately titled "Physics Colloquium," and appears also to be misdated on May 19 instead of May 17. The latter date, along with published title, is given in the Caltech Weekly Calendar.
Digital preservation copy made from original audio cassette 4/14/2009.
