Nova Et Accurata Astrolabii Geometrici Structura...

Complete title: NOVA ET ACCURATA ASTROLABII GEOMETRICI STRUCTURA, UBI GRADUS, HORUMQUE SINGULA MINUTA PRIMA, NEC NON, QUADRANTIS ASTRONOMICI AZIMUTHALIS, QUO NON SOLUM PRIMA, SED & SINGULA MINUTA SECUNDA DISTINCTE OBSERVARI POSSUNT. UNA CUM UTRIUSQUE USU. Hedraeus (1608-1659) was the first Swedish astronmical instrument maker, and operated the first observatory in Sweden, near Uppsala. The book decribes for the first time the application of the vernier (a subdividing scale actually invented by Pierre Vernier in 1631 but unknown to Hedraeus) to the astrolabe. This copy belonged to the French scientist Jean-Jacques d'Ortous de Mairan and is signed by him.
