Edward Williams Morley Family Papers 1828-1922

EDWARD WILLIAMS MORLEY: 1838-1923. Chemist and physicist best known for his collaboration with A. A. Michelson on the ether-drift experiment. The papers include family correspondence: from others to Morley's father, letters between Morley’s siblings and his parents, and letters between Morley and his parents/ siblings (c. 1828-1904). Also included are reprints of Morley’s published scientific work and manuscripts composed by Morley’s mother, Anna Clarissa Treat, on moral and religious topics.
