Portrait of Johannes Wallis (1616-1703)
Portrait of English mathematician John Wallis. Engraving done by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727-1785), after British engraver David Loggan's (1634-1692) 1678 portrait of Wallis, only cropped to head and shoulders, and framed with laurel leaves. Wallis is famous for his contributions to algebra and analytical geometry.
