Franz Liszt, born 1811 in Hungary, very early became a renowned piano virtuoso and toured Europe and England. As a composer, his compositions were considered to be music of the future and were among the most technically difficult. He was also known for his great generosity with both his time and money, donating to causes and teaching pupils gratis. [Biographical text accompanies caricature.]
